How do you support shy or hesitant children attending for the first time?

Updated over a month ago

We completely understand that starting a new class can feel overwhelming β€” especially for toddlers and preschoolers. At Oasis, we’ve worked with many shy, cautious, or first-time children, and our team is experienced in helping them ease in gently.

Here's how we support them:

  • πŸ’› Our facilitators take a slow, child-led approach, allowing each child to warm up at their own pace

  • πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ We welcome parents, caregivers, or nannies to stay close by, especially during the first few sessions

  • 🌱 Our studio environment is calm, playful, and non-judgemental β€” with small group sizes to avoid overwhelm

  • 🧸 We may recommend beginning with a Free Play or less structured session to help build confidence gradually

Most children settle in beautifully within a class or two β€” and we’re always here to support both you and your child through that transition. 🌿
